Texans Talk Online

Join Our Team!

We need hardworking and dedicated students to join the Texans Talk newspaper, TexanTV, or Cherokee yearbook teams.

As a student reporter, you will tell stories about the people at SHHS.

You will talk to strangers, write stories/captions, take/edit photos/video design pages and create social media content!

Before you click HERE to complete an application read more about each publication below!

TEXANTV STAFF

TexanTV is a student-produced television production. Content includes announcements, sports coverage, and other student and teacher-created content. This staff requires a significant time commitment outside of school shooting events. TexanTV is produced during third period in Studio 1505. Click HERE to view an episode.

PHOTOGRAPHY STAFF

You are the support and backbone of all things journalism! You will cover school events, edit and organize photos, conduct basic on-site interviews and write captions. This staff requires a significant time commitment outside of school shooting events. Click HERE to see photo examples.

CHEROKEE YEARBOOK STAFF

This is a BUSINESS that costs us $8,000 each school year, not a class! You will publish the yearbook! It is a 100% student-run publication, with a faculty adviser, editors who are the main decision-makers who drive the book’s production, and staff members. You will come up with ideas for the book, design pages, shoot events, write stories and captions, and help with social media and marketing to drive sales.

TEXANS TALK NEWSPAPER STAFF

You will produce content for the Texans Talk Online website. You will come up with story ideas, interview students/teachers/administration, write, design pages, sell advertisements, etc. You will publish a printed news magazine once each semester including a special Senior Edition in May. (Funds permitting!) Click HERE to see newer printed publications. Click HERE to see older printed publications.
