The varsity boys basketball team has made their way to the playoffs after beating Martin High School with a 21-point difference last Friday, Feb. 3.

The team holds the first-place spot in the district. Prior to this year, they hadn’t won a district basketball game in three years, stated Malik Boynton, assistant boys varsity basketball coach, via email.

This is alum Darius Williams’ first year as head coach.

“I am happy about where we stand but it’s still not over,” Darius Williams, head boys varsity basketball coach, said on Feb. 3. “We still gotta finish the rest of these teams off.”

The last home game against the Arlington Colts will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Gym A on Tuesday during senior night.
