This season the varsity girls basketball team will focus on communication on and off the court and on making the team better overall, junior Jimena Cortez said.

Cortez said she’s working hard physically and hopes the team makes it all the way to the playoffs.

“So far, I feel good and confident,” she said. “The attitude is better and positive, better chemistry, better environment overall, which is going to help us reach playoffs.’’

Last season was hectic and could have been better, she said.

“We could do better as a team and communicating as one team too,” Cortez said. “The attitude is very different and better than it was last year.”

The team will play against the Arlington Colts tonight at 7:30 p.m. Gym A.
