The varsity boys soccer team returned home with two wins and one loss under their belt from the Austin Lakes Elite Showcase Jan 11 to 13.

Head coach Joey Rodriguez said the team did well in the tournament, but the first day the traveling got to them. He said they beat Austin Westlake 1-0 after they got their ‘legs’ together.

“I think the trip was kinda heavy so when we arrived kinda like lazy, and our first game wasn’t the best but the rest of the two games we played way better,” senior Kevin Tankou said.

Tankou said he wants the team to win state this year. He trains and practices everyday.

“We are not worried about expectations from other people or outside forces,” Rodriguez said. “We are just trying to do our best everyday.”

Recently, the Texans beat the Lakeview Centennial Patriots 8-0 Jan. 23.

They will play Garland Sachse at 7:45 Friday on Wilemon field.
